I love minimal outfits but on many a day I have returned to my maximalist roots. Indulgence in over-the-top looks is a skill that requires a tasteful eye...
That's why sometimes it is necessary to edit out all the unnecessary noise. We are often told in the glossy fashion magazines to always accessorize, but there are the times I think it's OK to ditch the accessories.
Eg. When the outfit Is dramatic. In my outfit I have cut outs, lace, flared trousers (one of my designs btw) and lace up shoes. Those are a lot of places to look, but I managed to keep it cohesive with the silhouette and the colour scheme. Adding accessories to the mix would have been a little too much for me.
Another example is when you have an embellished or self-accessorised piece of clothing. Like this dress or this dress. You don't have to do much work with such pieces so they are perfect for the last minute outfit.
And finally you can also ditch the trendy accessories and go with small minimal and meaningful pieces that have sentimental value. Like a crucifix or a small charm bracelet. It's all up to you to edit and create the look you desire.
