I especially love this combination because it tends to make me look taller than I actually am and personally, I kinda like that. It's effortless and sophisticated but only when it's done right. So I have some tips for you on how to pull of the bodycon dress and duster coat look and I'll be demonstrating using a dress and coat that were both designed and made by me!...
I love creating things, clothes especially. I really enjoyed sewing this outfit because it turned out exactly how I visualised it. So without further ado, here are those awesome tips!
1. Style It With Lace Up Shoes
Wearing a maxi bodycon dress and then covering it with a coat leaves no room to show any skin. Lace up shoes create an interesting space to look at and act as a statement in this simple look.
2. Wear Different Textures
I paired my bodycon dress with a sheer chiffon duster coat which is a more rough texture compared to the silky jersey fabric that I used to make this dress. Playing with textures makes things more interesting especially when everything is the same colour.
3. Make Sure One Is Longer Than The Other
This outfit is a little lesson in light layering. The best way to make layering work is to have different lengths against each other. Keep both pieces at maxi length but hem one of them (I suggest hemming the coat) in order to achieve layers since you only have two pieces to work with.
