I love being in my bedroom. It is where I retreat to after a long day and where I like to relax on a lazy Sunday. It’s where most of my blog posts are cooked up. Ideas pop up in my head while i sleep in my comfy bed and countless cups of tea are enjoyed here as I watch my favourite TV shows.
This is why it is very important for my bedroom to always be cosy and comfy.
It’s getting colder so I’m going to share with you my tips on how to keep your bedroom cosy and comfy
This is the season for all things fuzzy, fluffy and furry. An easy way to cosy up your room is to add these textures to your room. Invest in a cable knit throw or some faux fur cushions. Furs and knits scream cosy and warm and will give you that “home-sweet-home” feeling the minute your skin rubs against them.
2. WARM LIGHTING
Lighting plays a major role in the appearance and feel of your bedroom. Just because your room may come with one light bulb, it doesn’t mean that’s all the lighting you are stuck with! I personally find dark and dingy rooms a bit depressing so I brighten up my bedroom with string fairy lights and also a bedside lamp.
3. MAKE A BED CANOPY
A bed canopy can instantly turn your bedroom into a sanctuary. It would also be a really fun and easy DIY project. You just need some curtains and maybe a rail or two depending on the look you are going for. There are different types of canopies so be sure to do your research before deciding to take this step.
4. INVEST IN A HEADBOARD
If you don’t already have one. Aside from their aesthetic value, headboards can turn up the cosiness in you room especially if they are upholstered. Historically, they were used to separate the bed from cold walls. Even though we have heated homes today, headboards are still an easy way to banish the cold from our rooms in the harsh weather to come.
Now that the summer is gone, we can ditch the fresh floral and citrusy scents and go for more spicy and woodsy ones. Weather it’s candles or diffusers, for me, scent can really change how I feel and i have found it can certainly make me feel cosy and relaxed. I suggest going for sandalwood, patchouli, cedar wood and cinnamon scents. Of course it all depends on what you like but definitely go for the ones that give you a sense of cosiness.
6. HAVE A THEME
Having a sense of cohesiveness to your bedroom decor can really tie things together and give you that feeling of an organised place you can retreat to. If it’s a shabby chic theme, stick with shabby chic accents and bedding. Make sure the theme is inspired by something you absolutely love because that will just make you love your room even more.
7. CREATE A SITTING AREA
This could mean adding a chair in the corner of you bedroom or simply bringing in a giant bean bag. This could become a space to read, have a cup of tea, reply to some emails or just chill. Your bed doesn’t have to be the only place you can relax when you are in your room.
8.SWAP YOUR BLINDS FOR CURTAINS
Curtains are very homely and they come in so many different fabrics. Opting for some full length ones and some tie backs during the day will be a nice decoration. You can go for light and airy or heavy and luxurious depending on your preferences. Blinds can look a bit ‘businessy’ if you know what I mean so if you want to up the cosy factor stick with curtains.
10. WARM COLOURS
Combined with the lighting, warm colours will just finish off the look in making your room a cosy and comfy space. Warm colours give a zen feel to your room. I usually go for neutrals because that’s what I like, but I add some warm tones with cushions and ornaments and it certainly makes my room cosy
Hope you’ve enjoyed this post.
