Going for the androgynous look is often stylish and effortless. It gives a woman a mysterious sexiness that cannot be compared to the mainstream idea of what is "sexy". Borrowing from the boys is just one of many ways to prove that you can achieve an eye-catching look even in baggy and modest silhouettes. It is something I truly enjoy from time to time and so I want to share my top tips for pulling off this look!
1. START WITH ACCESSORIES
If borrowing from the boys is quite new to you then I think exploring men's accessories will be a safe start for you! You could go for a men's tie, a chunky men's watch or a hat! I personally love hats so whenever I want to man my look up, I go for this classic boater hat I'm wearing. Accessories will be subtle but will add a classy touch to your look.
2. GO FOR THE BASICS
When borrowing from menswear it is usually best to go for the basic pieces. The pieces that almost every man will have in their closet. This makes your statement more clear and makes sure the androgyny does not go unnoticed. For example, an oversized mens shirt, a tailored jacket or in my case, some knee length shorts.
3.PAIR WITH SOMETHING FEMININE
Finally, to pull the look together, add a feminine touch. For my look, I paired my boyish shorts with a flowy chiffon pleated blouse, whis is an extremely feminine piece. This increases your style factor and shows you're just a stylish girl having fun with the manly look!
This doesn't have to be your everyday look, it could be something you try once or your go to look for a lazy day. The best thing about style is that you can have fun with it. I hope this inspires you to experiment with menswear! Check out more pics of my outfit below x
